About this Event
Ikebana 'Unbound': Unruly stems, more life, zero restraint.
(A Japanese-inspired flower workshop, but on the wild side).
£60 inc. flowers, kenzan & vessel
Create sculptural, gravity-defying floral designs that reflect the energy of this seasonal transition from late Spring into early Summer.
Mid-April is like Nature’s pre-party: Blossom out. Buds swelling. Greens bursting for the sky. Everything’s a bit charged, revved-up and raring to go - basically, things are about to get out of hand...
Using wild, British material gathered from The Wylding Floral's ancient woodland and meadows, we’ll guide you through a loose, Ikebana-inspired way of arranging flowers, using Japanese kenzan (aka, pin frogs).
You’ll learn how to work with line, space and carefully chosen floral elements. Expect a playful, hands-on session with space to experiment, find your own style, and discover a way of arranging flowers that connect you to the season and capture its feeling of vitality, growth and sheer possibility.
What you’ll leave with
Your arrangement.
Your vessel + kenzan.
And a slightly different way of seeing the everyday nature around you.
(Plus, a possible addiction to kenzan. You have been warned.)
What people say
“There’s nothing formulaic about The Wylding workshops…From the moment I walked in it felt like a celebration of creativity. Everyone used the same materials, but created something completely their own.”
“Natasha is a brilliant storyteller and teacher. She takes you on a journey through different cultures and shows how this comes to life through flowers. She guides, but also gives you the freedom to play. It made me realise I could trust my own eye far more than I thought.”
“I thought we’d just be learning flower arranging, but it turned out to be something much more magical. I’ve come away noticing the seasons and the things growing around me in a completely different way.”
What makes The Wylding workshops different?
You’ll learn how to arrange flowers. But more than that, you’ll start to notice what’s happening outside, and respond to it.
We borrow from Ikebana. We borrow from seasonal pagan rituals. Then we invite you to make something that means something to you.
Less 'perfect flower arrangement'. More ‘this moment’, ‘this mood’, ‘this idea’.
