About this Event
The Centre for Fashion Curation (CfFC), welcomes Saul Marcadent from the Università Iuav di Venezia (Iuav) to London College of Fashion as part of the celebrations of the Centre's work exploring different perspectives of exhibiting fashion. Tempi responsabili–Responsible Times is a medium-to-long-term research project focusing on the culture of sustainability and the dialogue between the fashion industry and craftsmanship.
It weaves thoughts, practices and actions that consider sustainability not as an added value but as an intrinsic element of research, design and education.
Our guest on the 16 November will be fashion designer Hussein Chalayan, who, in conversation, will explore his archives in relation to broader practices of design and fashion curation.
Central to the research project is the urgency to discuss, deepen and attempt to redefine the concept of sustainability with an inclusive approach. Special attention is paid to the relationships between fashion and ecological transition, gender issues and projects that activate communities and physical and intellectual spaces where knowledge is practised with a horizontal vision of enterprise.
Combining a theoretical perspective and a practice-based approach, Tempi responsabili–Responsible Times connects Università Iuav di Venezia (Iuav) with London College of Fashion, UAL and holds lectures and workshops together, in view of the publication of a book that will amplify the contents that have emerged along the way. The research project focuses on three Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda: responsible consumption and production, quality education, and gender equality.
