About this Event
On Thursday, April 3 @ 11am ET, join Cary Institute for a virtual scientific seminar by Dr. Katherine Weiss, Marist College.
Understanding the social-ecological-evolutionary dynamics of animals is key to promoting human-wildlife coexistence in urban systems. Yet, the complexity and variation of ecological phenomena, particularly in urbanized contexts, presents challenges when seeking generality of theory and efficacy of applications in urban wildlife ecology.
Building on previous approaches, this talk describes how an explicit focus on phenotypic traits can help to link social, ecological, and evolutionary processes in cities. Using examples that range from coyotes in Arizona to black bears in New York, this talk will further investigate how scientists and wildlife managers can work together to promote more sustainable interactions between people and wildlife in an ever-changing and diverse urban landscape.
Free and open to all. Registration required via Eventbrite.
