On Saturday April 26th, as you step onto Howard Street, prepare to be swept away by a wave of electrifying energy. The Carnaval will kick off with our inaugural grand parade starting at Paulina and Jonquil avenue, heading south to Howard and then east down Howard street to Ashland. The parade will feature an array of dazzling costumes, our grand marshal float and mesmerizing dance performances that pay homage to both African and Caribbean folklore and contemporary arts. The rhythmic drum beats and soulful melodies from live bands will set the tempo for a day filled with dance, music, and joy.
After the parade, the celebration continues at White (Willye B.) Park 1610 W. Howard St.
Explore a marketplace brimming with artisanal crafts, traditional attire, and unique treasures that tell stories of distant lands and local craftsmanship. The Howard Street Carnaval is also a feast for the senses, with a wide array of food stalls serving authentic culinary delights. Savor the flavors of spicy jerk chicken, tender goat curry, aromatic jollof rice, and sweet plantain dishes, each bite transporting you to the streets of Kingston, Lagos, and beyond.
Just before the sun sets, the celebration will continue with an upbeat concert featuring regional and local musical artists and the DJ's from the African and Caribbean music scenes. Let the rhythms of reggae, afrobeats, soca, and dancehall carry you into the night, culminating in a spectacular display of unity and joy.
