Your improv friends and teammates are obviously great. But in rehearsals, jams, workshops, and shows you run into them… The improvisers you find difficult to play with.

Perhaps your strategy so far has been: to avoid them. (And complain later)
.
But wouldn’t you want to be able to play with beginners, very experienced players, loose canons, the shy ones, or that one annoying steamroller? Maybe even enjoy it?

In this workshop, we will use fun and active exercises to practice recognizing what type of player you have in front of you. We will tackle different strategies that work for a variety players. You will learn how to try to make a good scene happen, and how to be okay when it is not.

Beforehand, I will invite to send in what you think is a challenging player.

Your teacher is me, Laura. I will draw from 16 years of (international) experience of performing in a wide range of styles, cultures and groups. I have shared the stage with all kinds of people, ranging from children to celebrities, and from wallflowers to douchebags. Above all, I believe that being a good improviser equals being flexible, open, generous and compassionate.
