HOMELESS RIGHTS MONTH SLEEP OUT

This Homeless Rights Month we are going to be in solidarity with all homeless people in the streets.
About this Event

Last year two formerly homeless advocates/activists, Shams DaBaron aka Da Homeless Hero and Maria Theresa organized homeless advocates, advocacy orgs, and other New Yorkers under the banner of Homeless Rights Month: 30 Days of Action to raise awareness on homelessness and combat the inhumane treatment of of homeless New Yorkers by the then Mayor Bill de Blasio. A huge success, we have decided to continue this initiative with a Sleep Out in Harlem where Shams DaBaron once slept on a park bench.

As of present more than half a million people are homeless. More than 25% of them are street homeless. We're ending Homeless Rights Month in solidarity with all of those who are homeless in the streets. We'll also hold a vigil for the more than 13,000 people who die while homeless each year.

We ask you to join us to Sleepout, Raise Awareness, and Donate (If you have it to give) to our GoFundMe "Homeless 2 Housing Investment Fund" that will be used toward purchasing property to house homeless New Yorkers. While this year we are launching this annual Sleep Out in NYC we hope that Homeless Rights Months continues to spread throughout the United States and abroad. We want the world to join us and donate to a charity of your choice that addresses the issues of housing and homelessness.

Following the Homeless Rights Month Sleep Out we will do a press conference to share our experience and call for city, state and federal legislators to declare homelessness in the United States to be in National Crisis and commit to ending homelessness by building more housing.
