Explore the Roots of Hip Hop Culture at our 2nd annual Hip Hop Arts Conference! Join us as we pay tribute to the past, present, and future of Hip Hop in the presence of iconic dance and music legends! It's going to be more than just a social gathering...it's a celebration of where Hip Hop started, where it is now, where it's headed as well as it's unequivocal unifying nature! During this 4 day event series, get ready for an up-close look at the essence of Hip Hop, from its beginnings in the streets to its global influence today. Immerse yourself in the elements of the art form as well as the beats, rhymes, and artistry that make Hip Hop a vibrant and enduring cultural force.
The conference kicks off at Spelman College on Thurs. Oct 3 with a panel with the theme of Entrepreneurship in the Arts: Education, Activism, Technology ( hosted by the "Navigating the Business of Dance" class with professor, T. Lang).
Watch as some of the most innovative dance and music artists of our time premiere their creative works at the SPARK artist empowerment choreographic series on Friday, Oct 4.
On Saturday, October 5, come out and experience the dynamic skills of the iconic dancer and music producer, Legend Da Beatslayer during his exciting dance workshop! Witness the exhilarating multigenerational Legacy Dance Battle and 7 to Smoke Battle featuring some of the most innovative dance artists and judges in the nation as well as take the Microbits: Art & Music Production via coding class !
On Sunday, Oct. 6, join us at Spelman College as we honor community driven artists and changemakers at our "A Day of Respect" awards ceremony followed by the world premiere of the historic production, "Can't Stop, Won't Stop: The Legacy of Hip Hop" (featuring legendary pioneers of hip hop dance and music and their protégées )!
