Forest Stewardship training includes a series of classes held on Saturdays in October. The goal of the Forest Stewardship program is to introduce concepts for identifying plants, environmental effects of invasive plants, and methods of control for the everyday community steward. We hope that Forest Stewards will use what they learn to help lead volunteers in Forest Restoration in greenspaces where Trees Atlanta already works and in their own communities.Participants will learn virtually with video lessons sent ahead of the Saturday classes and in-person at Kirkwood Urban Forest on Saturdays. The themes of each class are indicated below (and may change in response to class needs). Attendance at all four classes is required to receive your certificate of completion and to be a Certified Forest Stewardship Volunteer.
Saturday, October 5: Identifying Native and Invasive Plant Species: Morphology, Phytogeography, Phenology
