Come and discover some hidden gems of its wonderful coastal walks with us on this exciting weekend trip to the Atlantic coast of North Cornwall!
TRIP HIGHLIGHTS
• Atlantic coast of North Cornwall
• Golden sands of Constantine Bay, Treyarnon Bay and Harlyn Bay beaches – some of Cornwall's most beautiful and popular surfing beaches
• Dramatic cliff scenery, small offshore islands and rocky coves with interesting names, such as Stinking Cove, Mackerel Cove and Big Guns Cove
• Charming Cornish fishing town of Padstow with its picturesque harbour, the National Lobster Hatchery and a fine selection of cafés and restaurants
• Trevose Head, one of Cornwall’s most prominent headlands, and the 19th-century lighthouse
• Tintagel Castle, said to be the birthplace of legendary King Arthur, and Merlin's Cave
• Trekking along the South West Coat Path, recognised as one of the world's best long-distance treks
• Natural rock arches, known as the ‘Northern Door’ and ‘Ladies' Window’
• The Old Fish Cellars above Harlyn Bay – these were once used for processing pilchards (one of the main industries in the area). • • The inscription over the door – ‘Lucri Dulcis Odor’ – can be translated as ‘Profit Smells Sweet’!
• Beautiful fishing village of Boscastle and its ancient harbour
Cornwall's best local and traditional delicacies: Cornish pasties 🥐, cream tea 🥧, Cornish ice cream 🍦, etc.
ITINERARY
Saturday:
06:45 meet outside Hotel Novotel London West, 1 Shortlands, W6 8DR (a five-minute walk from Hammersmith Station); 07:00 sharp departure; 12:30-13:00 free time to explore Boscastle village and its harbour (recommended: traditional Cornish pasties from Boscastle Bakery); 13:00-17:30 hike from Boscastle to Trebarwith Strand Beach past Tintagel Castle (difficulty: Moderate, distance: 11km, ascent: 520m); 18:30 check-in at the Premier Inn Bodmin Hotel, dinner and free time;
Sunday:
07:00 breakfast; 08:00 departure; 09:00-13:30 hike from Treyarnon Bay to Padstow (difficulty: Easy, distance: 13km, ascent: 210m); 13:30-15:00 lunch in the fishing village of Padstow, free time to explore gift shops and visit the National Lobster Hatchery; 15:00 departure; 21:00 London, Hammersmith.
DIFFICULTY & EQUIPMENT
Please note that this trip requires a good level of fitness. Good hiking boots with ankle support and waterproof clothing are essential (see the ‘What to bring’ section for more details).
TRANSPORT
As on most of our trips, we'll travel in a comfortable 16-seater minibus.
LUGGAGE
You can bring two small bags with you: one cabin size personal item bag (up to 10kg) and one smaller hiking backpack to fit under the seat. During the hike, you can leave your luggage in the minibus.

• Second pair of comfortable (non-hiking) shoes for minibus journeys
• Comfortable clothes to change after the hike
