About this Event

Enjoy a day out at Lissan Demesne, where you can take a stroll along the river and through the woodland, reconnect with nature, and discover hidden gems of the estate buildings which supported Lissan across its 400-year history. You will be able to pick up a free booklet covering some of the estate’s historic connections and history which will help to guide you on your journey. Throughout the day there will also be a series of drop-in heritage skills demonstrations taking place in the yard; including blacksmithing, joinery, stonemasonry and woodworking. Pre-booking to visit the grounds or skills demonstrations is not essential, and drop-ins are welcome.

Booking is essential for structured workshops and tours, which are available to be booked separately here.

Important information for attendees:

Please be aware that this does not include a tour of the house, and this is a self-guided tour of the grounds. Structured tours/ workshops can be booked separately, or the ballroom will be open to visitors between 1pm and 2pm. This is to manage visitor numbers in order to prevent overcrowding.

The estate paths can be uneven, and some do have steep gradients.

Getting here:

There is on-site parking at Lissan House, however places may be limited. Therefore, a regular shuttle bus will also be running from the nearby Lissan Parish Church, Churchtown. If parking at Lissan House, enter by Drumgrass Road (where it meets Lissan Road/ Lough Fea Road) as a one-way system will be in place.

Please note, Lissan House does not have on site catering, and it is in a remote setting. If you would like to spend the day exploring the estate, you are welcome to bring a packed lunch which can be enjoyed outside, or you can also use the ballroom between 1pm and 2pm; where tea and coffee will be available. There are also a number of cafes, pubs and restaurants serving food in and around Cookstown.
