About this Event
Welcome to the Heart Haven- Suicide Bereavement Community Group Gathering.
Join us for a supportive gathering at the Mitta Mitta Canoe Club where we come together side by side as we navigate life after suicide bereavement.
We welcome people who are bereaved by suicide and people who support people bereaved by suicide.
We will meet casually and share tea, coffee and biscuits. There will be board games, cards and art/craft activities available.
This month we will be continuing to make hearts as well as make some bead creations.
ABOUT
Heart Haven is a monthly community gathering in Albury organise by people with a lived experience of suicide bereavement, for people within Albury/Wodonga and surrounding areas who are impacted by suicide bereavement.
PURPOSE
Provide a supportive space for people impacted by suicide to:
- Connect with other people with a lived experience of suicide bereavement.
- Engage with each other socially through card and board games, art making, and whatever else we decide to do.
- Share their stories with one another.
- Build a community of understanding and support.
- Assist one another with advocacy and projects.
VISION
To form a self sustaining community centred around:
- collective care for people with a lived experience of suicide bereavement.
- contributing to the breaking down of stigma surrounding suicide and mental distress.
- providing a space where people can form connections that extend beyond the monthly meeting up.
- creating positive change in the community.
UNDERSTANDINGS
As a community group we provide companionship and understand that the group is not a therapeutic space.
Everyone's experience is unique and needs to be viewed as such. Attendees may have high levels of distress and connection to support services may need to be available. There are multiple perspectives on suicide and distress.
Registration is essential as we have a venue capacity limit.
