About this Event
Facilitated by ILA Creative Studio, we partner together to explore the sounds of jazz legend Herbie Hancock to create a visual record(s) during "Salutations," a three-month artist residency exploring the musical history of Chicago.
Hear We Art™ is an interactive and educational art experience fusing visuals and sound for an immersive community experience. During the Hear We Art™ workshop, the attendees participate in a 90-minute immersive creative experience that blends visual art, music, and guided reflection. Led by Black artists and facilitators, attendees listen to curated music by Black musicians while engaging in hands-on art-making to ultimately create their own "visual record."A wheel of emotions is incorporated to help participants name, understand, and connect emotions to creative expression. The session concludes with optional sharing and grounding exercises that reinforce emotional awareness, wellness, and community connection.
