About this Event
Join us at Heron Hall at Bird Alliance of Oregon (5151 NW Cornell Rd, Portland, OR 97210) to learn about how to keep your home healthy through lead poisoning prevention as well as how to support healthy habitats outside our homes.
This workshop teaches participants about the health effects and common sources of lead exposure, including old household paint, drinking water, and soil. This workshop empowers participants with the basic prevention measures to limit future exposure and provides regional resources to help eliminate lead poisoning. Additionally, participants will be introduced to Backyard Habitat's approach to supporting plant and wildlife habitat through more holistic land tending practices. This is a great opportunity to be introduced to the Backyard Habitat program if you have been curious about joining.
Participants that live in the City of Portland and who are at or below the 80% income threshold of the Portland area median income qualify for free lead test kits and materials. All attendees will also receive a coupon for free Backyard Habitat Certification Program enrollment.
