About the event
Join us for a trauma-informed deeply nourishing and restorative afternoon designed to reconnect you with the healing intelligence of nature, your senses, and community. Set within the peaceful garden and treatment space of Moksha Holistic Therapies CIC in Matlock, this unique event offers an opportunity to step away from the busyness of daily life and immerse yourself in a guided experience of herbal learning, mindfulness, and nature-based wellbeing.
Facilitated by Azim Nobeebaccus, Samantha Nobeebaccus, and Jan Muse (Magical Muse Medicine Weaver), this gathering combines practical plant knowledge with embodied practices that support relaxation, connection, and inner balance. Together we will explore how nature can be a powerful ally for emotional wellbeing, stress reduction, nervous system regulation, and community healing.
What the Afternoon Will Include :-
Opening Circle & Guided Herb Walk in the Nearby Forest
We will begin by gathering in circle in the Moksha garden space, taking time to arrive, settle, and connect as a group. Through gentle grounding practices and intention setting, we will open the day in a calm and welcoming way.We will then take a mindful walk into the nearby woodland area, where participants will be introduced to a variety of seasonal herbs and plants growing in the local landscape.
You will learn:
- How to begin identifying common medicinal and edible plants
- Traditional and modern uses of selected herbs
- How plants support health and wellbeing
- Ways to build a respectful relationship with the natural world
- Ethical and sustainable foraging principles
This is an invitation to slow down and see the land with fresh eyes.
Forest Bathing Meditation Experience
Modern research continues to show what many traditional cultures have long known, spending time around trees and in woodland environments can have measurable & profound benefits for our health and wellbeing.
Among the trees, we will pause for a guided forest bathing meditation inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku. Studies into forest bathing have found that time spent among trees may help to:
- Reduce stress hormones such as cortisol
- Lower blood pressure and heart rate
- Improve mood and mental clarity
- Support the immune system
- Calm the nervous system
- Increase feelings of connection and wellbeing
Trees also release natural aromatic compounds called phytoncides, which are believed to contribute to some of these calming and immune-supportive effects. Simply being in a wooded environment can help the body shift from “fight or flight” into a more restorative state. This event offers a chance to experience these benefits directly through mindful presence in nature.
Herbal Gathering & Community Tea Making
We will mindfully gather suitable herbs (where appropriate and sustainable), then return to the Moksha space to prepare a fresh community herbal tea together as the tea infuses, we will share reflections, stories, and insights from the afternoon, creating a warm and supportive closing space.
Benefits of the Experience
Participants often leave feeling:
More grounded and calm
Reconnected to nature
Inspired by herbal wisdom
Less stressed and mentally clearer
Connected with like-minded community
Empowered to continue nature practices at home
