About this Event
Hands in Clay: A Beginner's Hand-Building Workshop
There's something quietly magical about the moment your hands first meet a lump of clay. No screens, no rush, no right answer — just soft earth warming between your palms and slowly becoming something.
This workshop is an invitation to slow down and play. Over three hours, I'll guide you through simple hand-building techniques — the oldest way of shaping clay, older than the wheel, older than almost anything we make with our hands. You'll pinch, coil, and press your way into a small object of your own: a little vessel, a strange creature, an odd shape that pleased you. Whatever wants to appear.
No experience needed. No expectations to meet. Just curiosity and a willingness to get your hands a little dirty.
About me I'm a sculpture artist based in Berlin, working primarily in hand-built clay. I love this technique because it asks nothing of you except presence — and because it rewards play over perfection.
What you'll leave with A piece you made yourself, and (I hope) a slightly quieter mind. If you'd like your piece fired so you can keep it for good, you can leave it with me — firing and optional glazing are available afterward for a small additional fee.
What's included Clay, tools, aprons, tea, and all the guidance you need. Just bring yourself and maybe wear something you don't mind getting a little dusty.
