About this Event
Dates: Wed Apr 22, 10 am – 3 pm. Sales end: Apr 15. Ticket: $60 + Eventbrite fee. Instructor: Barb Gallagher. Materials fee: none. Skills Needed: be able to bring in a warped loom. Class Limit: 10 Class Location: 1st Floor.
We will explore a variety of laces that are controlled by the weaver – not the loom; Leno, Brooks Bouquet, Mexican lace, several hemstitchings, Danish Medallions ……….and a few more. You need to bring a loom, but it is only set up for plain weave. So rigid heddle looms are fine
Suggested warp: aprox 5” wide with something like 3/2 cotton sett at 10 epi and 1-1/2 to 2 yards long. 5/2 or 8/4 also work.
Supplies to Bring:
- warped loom
- Some weft yarns (assorted colors of same size as warp), a tapestry needle, pickup stick, knitting needle for pulled loops (pencil would work) and a crochet hook small enough to fit thru the plain weave. Bring what you have and we'll share things you don't.
- lunch and beverage

Questions about this class? Contact the instructor, Barb Gallagher at [email protected].
Barb Gallagher has been weaving since she stumbled upon a weaving studio in Los Angeles in the 70’s. She says she was so excited, it sent her back to school where she earned a BA in Art from Edgecliff College (now Xavier University) in Cincinnati, Ohio. She did her thesis on rug weaving, but since then she’s enjoyed weaving functional art such as towels, scarfs, shawls, and blankets. Barb has been teaching weaving for more years than she wants to admit. Barb is also the owner of Weavers Loft, a retail weaving supply shop as well as the home of her weaving studio.
If you are not feeling well, please contact the instructor instead of coming to the class. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to reschedule you into a future class or provide a make-up lesson. Ticket fees are not normally refunded.
Depending on the CDC Guidelines for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class.
Unless specifically stated, Weavers Guild classes are designed for ages 18 and above.
