We are excited to share a new architectural walking tour of Hale neighborhood curated by resident and Docomomo US/Colorado board secretary Brie Samyn. We'll embark on an enlightening tour through one of Denver’s lesser known mid-century modern enclaves that features high design in a variety of building types. The event will conclude with an exclusive home tour of Parkway Towers. We'll begin by acknowledging the area’s historical significance as a medical district, which hosts the Rose Medical Center and was the former location of the VA Hospital and University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Medical campus expansion created great demand for housing in the 1940s and spurred construction of a multitude of apartment complexes in the area. Offering a variety of middle class and luxury multi-family modern living, these structures showcase the designs of prolific Colorado architects Ramsey & Reeves and Roland Wilson. This architectural journey through Hale offers a compelling look at a desirable and rapidly evolving neighborhood.

Brie Samyn is a NCIDQ certified interior designer and project manager based in Denver with over a decade of experience in commercial design. She has a bachelor's degree in interior design as well as a minor in architectural history from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). She was newly appointed to the Denver Landmark Commission, where she will serve a three year term. On the weekends she spends her time biking to Denver’s arts and entertainment venues, crafting in her home studio, and volunteering with local non-profit organizations advocating for Colorado's historic and modern architecture.

The neighborhood tour involves walking on sidewalks and pavement. The home tour is wheelchair accessible.
