About this Event
Everyone welcome, whether you are a beginner or an experienced birdwatcher!
A choice of two dates - Friday June 12th or Sunday June 14th.
Start time 10am to circa midday.
The walks are free of charge but places are limited so advance booking is essential.
The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (QEOP) is home to a whole host of wildlife, and we will be looking at a wide variety of birds that breed here including Sand Martin, House Martin, Song Thrush, Linnet, Kestrel, Green Woodpecker and Reed Warbler.
If we are lucky we may even see rarer species such as Black Redstart and Kingfisher.
Whilst mainly focusing on the birds, we will also be on the lookout for the wonderful variety of bees and wasps that nest here - 90 species have been recorded so far!
QEOP is the former site of the 2012 Olympic Games. The site is 525 acres, making it the largest park built in the UK for the last 100 years.

About the walk leader
Tom Bellamy is Biodiversity Manager of QEOP, working in a partnership between the RSPB and idverde, the greenspace contractor of the park.
Tom has been in post for five years and his job is to advise idverde on how to make its management better for wildlife, and to quantify the work through ecological monitoring of the species and habitats found here.
The data is used as part of evidence-based management, allowing the park to be very reactive to the needs of each habitat and species.
