About this Event
Please read the important ticket information below before you sign up for the walk!
Walk leaders: Sue Barry and Andrew Peel
Time: 9.45am - circa midday
Join us for a relaxed and enjoyable guided birdwatching walk around the London Wetland Centre led by two of our volunteers who know the site well.
The walk is suitable for everyone, whether you are a beginner or an experienced birdwatcher. Newcomers are very welcome.
We will be looking out for a variety of birds, including resident species and winter visitors. We expect to see Wigeon, Teal, Snipe, Lapwing, Shoveller, Shelduck and Great-crested Grebe. There is also a chance of seeing Bittern, Water Pipit, Jack Snipe, Kingfisher and Peregrine, as well as Siskin and Redpoll which have been around in December. As ever with birdwatching though, we will just have to wait and see what shows up on the day and there may be a few surprises.
Our guided walk is free of charge but it is essential to book a place because numbers are limited.
In addition to getting a ticket for the walk, if you are not a member of WWT you will need to buy a ticket for entry to the London Wetland Centre. Please get your ticket in advance online if possible as we will not have time to wait for people to get tickets on the day. For visitor information about tickets, prices, directions, accessibility etc please see the London Wetland Centre website.
If you are a WWT member, entry to the London Wetland Centre is free of charge.
You will need to make your own way to the London Wetland Centre. We will meet outside the main entrance by the statue of Sir Peter Scott at 9.45am and make a prompt start.
Wear suitable footwear and warm clothing, and bring binoculars and a scope if you have them.
The walk will end at the cafe for those who want hot drinks and a bite to eat.
