About this Event

Meet us at our new home The DuSable Museum

Created by Cara Brigandi and Eric Williams, owner of The Silver Room, Grown Folks Stories is two hours of five-minute stories of our community, told by our community, that range from hilarious to absolutely real. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cringe, you'll feel.

Come join this ever-popular gathering of nonprofessional, unrehearsed storytellers, who give us the real stories we live every day. There is no theme, no judging, no poetry, no readings. It’s storytelling that you’ve never experienced before. Hosted by Binkey with support from DJ Ravenettcha

Doors at 6:00 pm/ Stories at 7pm

ABOUT The DuSable Museum:

The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center is our nation’s oldest independent Black history museum, and a Smithsonian Institution affiliate. Founded in 1961, it is dedicated to the collection, documentation, preservation, study and dissemination of the history, art and culture of African Americans and of Black people worldwide. The DuSable Museum narrates stories and shares contributions that educate all people about Black excellence through exhibits, programs and special events. The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center was founded in February 1961 by husband and wife team, Dr. Margaret Taylor Burroughs and Charles Burroughs, on the ground floor of their home. Its purpose was to educate the public about Black history, culture, and art. The museum was originally named the Ebony Museum of Negro History and Art.
