This tour invites participants to explore the vibrant collection of public art installations that have transformed everyday spaces into meaningful, community-driven works of art.
Since 2015, DHBC’s Gritty to Pretty placemaking program has supported local artists in reimagining the urban landscape—turning once-overlooked walls, corners, and corridors into bold expressions of culture, identity, and storytelling. Through murals, installations, and creative interventions, the program has contributed significantly to making downtown Halifax more welcoming, inclusive, and visually dynamic.
Beginning in the downtown core, this walking tour guides participants through a curated route of standout artworks, including murals that symbolize transformation, celebrate community, and highlight local stories.
