Propelled by an exceptional cast including Jada Pinkett Smith, Vivica A. Fox and Kimberly Elise, it deserves recognition as a powerful entry into the 90s Hollywood action canon, one that packs a genuine emotional punch. It’s also much loved for its moment of queer representation through Queen Latifah’s scenery-chewing performance as Cleo.
