Rebetiko Against the Machine
With their united passion for Rebetiko these musicians infusing new paths with a rock sensibility in their original repertoire.
Their folk-traditional repertoire and influences are rooted in the pivotal era of the 30s to 50s, a period marked by the hardships of two World Wars, profoundly impacting the working class. The needs, perspectives, emotions, and beliefs of that time are reflected on the Rebetiko genre.
Today, the band strives to uphold these intimate and historical elements of Rebetiko while infusing their own experiences and perspectives into their lyrics and Original compositions.
For the last three years they have been actively performing around the Netherlands have collaborated with local artists and artists from abroad.
The band will release 3 singles within the coming months ,their first studio work on their original music

Berkéti Trio
The Berkéti Trio travels to 100 years ago with Kafe Aman or Meyhane Rebetiko songs as they sounded during the first half of the 20th century in the areas around Smyrna (Izmir), Constantinople (Istanbul) and Athens.
These songs pay tribute to various emotions such as love, jealousy, loneliness and despair, as well as joy and hope.
Of particular note is that this trio does not use the bouzouki but interestingly the ud and violin, instruments that were much more common in this music 100 years ago.Panos, Yvonne and Ilias met in the port of Rotterdam during their studies in Codarts.
Playing together the songs they have loved is maybe the cure to the rainy weather and the lack of Tsipouro.
