About this Event
Join us this Good Friday for a special Black Girls Hike community gathering in Epping Forest, as we come together to honour and remember Lola Oduba, one year on from their passing.
Last year, we planted a tree at The Hive Outdoor Activity Centre in Lola’s memory, a living tribute to their spirit and the impact they had on our community. This year, we return to that space not only to reflect, but to celebrate Lola together.
This will be a relaxed, family-friendly day designed to bring people of all ages together in nature.
What to expect:
- A gentle, guided walk through the forest to Lola’s memorial tree
- A moment to pause, reflect, and share memories
- A fun Easter egg hunt for children (and the young at heart!)
- Time to connect, eat, and spend the day in community
The walk is easy and accessible, with no elevation, perfect for families, beginners, and anyone looking for a slower pace. Please note that some paths may be muddy depending on recent weather, so come prepared with suitable footwear.
We encourage you to bring your own lunch, snacks, and something comfortable to sit on if you’d like to relax and spend more time together after the walk.
This day is about remembrance, joy, and togetherness—honouring Lola in a way that reflects the warmth and community they were part of.
