On Monday 2nd of March we renew our friendship with a unique musician and world artist! With many strings to his lyre the composer, cellist, bassist, guitarist Svante Henryson moves at the highest level between the styles of heavy metal, pop, classical and jazz. Tonight jazz cello with his own music written by Svante himself or together with his long-standing collaboration with GJO's guitarist Erik Weissglas. Wayne Shorter has been a big inspiration so some of his earrings are coming too.A lovely evening with music that goes from finely tuned to super swinging from both Svante and Shorter in a beautiful mix. Virtuoso in both music making and composition.

SVANTE HENRYSON already fell in love with the bass at the age of 12, and after seeing Stan Getz at a jazz festival and then the Stockholm Philharmonic, it was the music that mattered. As a teenager, he was hired as a double bass player in the Oslo Philharmonic and in his classical career has played all over the world with artists such as Roland Pöntinen, Martin Fröst and Anne Sofie von Otter.
In the 90s Svante toured the world with Yngwie Malmsteen himself with screaming fans (and hairspray) and has worked with artists such as Ryan Adams, Elvis Costello and Steve Gadd as a musician and composer.
In jazz, Svante has released several of his own records under the prestigious company ECM and often works with artists such as Jon Balke, Anders Jormin, and Palle Mikkelborg.
GÖTEBORG JAZZ ORCHESTRA is one of the most exciting movements in Swedish jazz. The big band has made a rocket career and in a short time established on the highest level. In their love to music they always look for new expressions and they attract collaborations with the best musicians - domestic and abroad. They often reach over the genre barriers with new formats. The first Monday every month Göteborg Jazz Orchestra performs under the motto "Jazz is fun!" GJO promotes jazz music in Göteborg, always plays great music, encouraging young talents and presents interesting guests and themes!
