MILES DAVIS
Turns 100 on May 26th! One of the greatest musicians and style-formers of the 20th century. He began his career with Charlie Parker during the heyday of bebop and then played a crucial role in the development of 1950s chamber music jazz, modal jazz (for example, the album Kind of Blue in 1959) and for jazz rock and the fusion wave in the early 1970s. He also had a highly acclaimed collaboration with big band leader Gil Evans in the late 1950s. Very few jazz musicians have attracted as much respect and interest outside of jazz as he has.
GÖTEBORG JAZZ ORCHESTRA is one of the most exciting movements in Swedish jazz. The big band has made a rocket career and in a short time established on the highest level. In their love to music they always look for new expressions and they attract collaborations with the best musicians - domestic and abroad. They often reach over the genre barriers with new formats. The first Monday every month Göteborg Jazz Orchestra performs under the motto "Jazz is fun!" GJO promotes jazz music in Göteborg, always plays great music, encouraging young talents and presents interesting guests and themes!
