About this Event
Below these meeting details is a bio of Ghouls and Girlies. Our June 4 meeting takes us to Nighthawk on Kimball in Albany Park, which is directly across the street from the Kimball brown line. Nighthawk is a cocktail bar that also has beer, coffee, and N/A options. You can order food through a QR code from the hot dog place next door for pick up, if you want. We will be discussing the book "The Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson. This is the well-known work about the Chicago serial killer H.H. Holmes during the time of the our hosting of the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893. If you read the book a very long time ago, please still come to familiarize yourself again. If you are very familiar with H.H. Holmes through other sources, you may also attend. There will be book spoliers, though. If you need a copy of the book, I have a copy I can give you at the May 14 Ghouls meeting at Koval.
(((Here is a bio of who we are: Are you a girlie obsessed with ghosts, aliens, true crime, cryptids, and anything else eerie or spooky? Do you crave new like-minded friends to accompany you in a deep dive into your favorite creepy topics and share the cozy, warm feeling of a terrifying horror film? Our group began in Oct. 2023. We meet every first Thursday of the month from 7-9pm to discuss topics like a true crime podcast or documentary, a trilogy of horror movies, a gothic fiction novel title, personal experiences and beliefs about spirits, historical sightings of Mothman or the Loch Ness Monster, etc. We also organize extra events, like going to the movies, listening to a live lecture expert, or going on haunted tours. [We are LGBTQ-inclusive. We welcome anyone female/femme/trans/non-binary of age 21+. We are disability-inclusive]. Please feel free to ask me, your host Jen, of any questions))).
