“Teenage Prose” by GHOSTS AND ERRORS is an intense, inward-looking record whose fragile indie folk sound world oscillates between Americana influences, attention to detail, and emotional weight. It is rarely light-footed without tipping into mere melancholy. Rather, what unfolds here is an idiosyncratic cosmos that has grown over years from an originally reduced, acoustic idea by Florian Stepper into an open band project involving a total of 16 musicians.
Fragile anti-folk meets urgent, almost manic post-punk before the songs open up again into expansive pop or chamber music moments. Instruments such as singing saw, Spanish lute, clarinet, cello, or vibraphone do not appear as effects, but as organic components of a larger narrative context. The record thrives on its ruptures and shifts in perspective.
Live, GHOSTS AND ERRORS form a fixed band with Florian Stepper, Bianca Steffen, Kevin Kuhn, Felix Nagel (also co-producer of the album), and Marco “Mini” Mühlhans. The pieces are reinterpreted there—more direct, rawer, and with open space for improvisation. What makes “Teenage Prose” particularly distinctive is its resistance to quick effects. The songs deliberately evade clear readability and gain depth with each repetition. An album that does not aim for a first impression, but slowly inscribes itself into perception. CRYSTAL GLASS is the musical project of Marvin Andrä, who has been creating his own dreamy soundscape with his unique blend of indie pop, psychedelic rock and new wave since 2021. With his sound, he succeeds in creating an atmosphere that is both introspective and danceable.
