About this Event
We invite you to join us on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025 for our Not-for-Profit Essentials Series: Getting and Keeping Your Tax-Exempt Status webinar. Tax-exempt organizations operate within a distinct framework, separate from the for-profit sector. For individuals establishing their first nonprofit entity, it is crucial to adhere to specific rules and regulations to both obtain and maintain their tax-exempt status.
In this session, we will explore the essential steps in forming a tax-exempt organization, including a comprehensive overview of what are charitable activities and the importance of accurately reporting these activities to the IRS. We will also examine the ongoing requirements for maintaining tax-exempt status, such as the public support test, annual tax filing obligations, and the activities that could jeopardize an organization's tax exemption. Furthermore, it’s important to note that being designated as "tax-exempt" does not equate to being free from all taxes. We will discuss various taxes that may still apply to tax-exempt organizations, both at the federal and state levels.
