About this Event

Ceramic artists are at the heart of Baltimore Clayworks. Artists are at the center of the mission of Baltimore Clayworks, and provide the organization with talent and innovation to inspire our community and to enliven the artistic impact of ceramics in our region. Their professional and personal networks provide a kaleidoscope of interactions with peers, galleries, and academic institutions, which keep the organization at the forefront of contemporary ceramic art.

Artist Bio

Ali Saunders is a ceramic artist from Boerne, Texas who makes functional pottery using pattern and color. She received her Bachelors of Arts from the University of St. Thomas and her Master of Fine Arts from Louisiana State University. After graduating from the University of St. Thomas she was a resident at Flower City Arts Center in Rochester, New York. Most recently, she has been the Salad Days Resident at Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts where she made 450 plates to be a part of the Salad Days event in July 2023. Saunders is inspired by the growth and abundance in nature and makes work that connects to legacy of female makers in her family. received her Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a Bachelor in Fine Arts from New York State College of Ceramic Art and Design at Alfred University. Solo exhibitions include; Duane Reed Gallery, MO, Cross MacKenzie Gallery, Washington DC, Eutectic Gallery, OR, Jane Hartsook Gallery, NY and the Canton Museum of Art, Ohio. Jakielski has participated in numerous residencies such as the Archie Bray Foundation, Roswell Artist in Residency, Djerassi and Millay Colony for the Arts. She was a 2019 recipient of the Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellowship. Jakielski lives and works in Parker, Colorado.
