General Carpentry Pre-Apprenticeship Program
This program is delivered in partnership with Mohawk College and Carpenter’s Union Local 18. It consists of several different components including online/in-person classroom portion, hands-on training as well as paid work placement after completion of Level 1 Apprenticeship training at Mohawk College. Our program runs for 30 weeks with an additional 1 year of staying connected after the initial 30-week training period is complete. This program is fully funded which means there are no fees for accepted individuals. The only thing participants have to provide for themselves is their living expenses including, rent, food, and transportation cost.
Program Eligibility Criteria:
- Between the ages of 18 and 29
- Minimum grade 10 education
- Not attending full-time education for the duration of the program
- Unemployed or underemployed (working less than 20 hours/week)
- Willing to commute daily to Mohawk College and Carpenter’s Union Local 18 (Stoney Creek/Hamilton)
