About this Event
Join Eileen Russell, play therapist and founder of WayMaker Child Therapy CIC, for a Future Tuesdays session exploring the Little Bear Project, a creative research initiative that blends animation, therapeutic storytelling, and practical support for families.
Supported by Future Screens NI pre-commercialisation funding, the project began with the development of animated stories designed to help children explore big emotions such as anger, loss, and change through gentle storytelling.
The work has since evolved into the Love Little Bear platform, which brings together animations for children, short guidance clips for adults, and simple therapeutic products designed to support emotional regulation and conversations around feelings.
In this session, Eileen will share the development journey of the project, from therapeutic theory to creative production and explore how storytelling can extend beyond passive viewing into meaningful emotional support for children and families.
The event will include:
• Screening of The Big Roar of Little Bear
• Insights into the creative and research process
• Discussion of the growing need for accessible emotional literacy resources for children
• Exploration of how storytelling, digital platforms, and therapeutic tools can work together
The session will conclude with a Q&A and discussion, inviting conversation about how creative media can support children’s wellbeing.
