About this Event
In this interactive session, participants will learn to create a fused glass birchbark plate. Through the process, participants will understand the process of creating fused glass – this includes safety, types of glass, co-efficiencies of glass and the firing of their pieces.
During this program participants will:
- Learn the process of making fused glass pieces.
- Learn the technique of decorating a glass piece using paint designed for fused glass.
- Learn what tools are required for the process.
- Understand the safety requirements.
- Create a plate with a birchbark design.
Beginners welcome. All materials included.
Please note that items will be taken for firing and be available for pick up at the Toronto Botanical Garden four weeks after the class.
Wednesday, November 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Registration: Public $115, Members $105 (plus applicable taxes and fees)
About Millean Kung
Born and raised in Toronto, Millean discovered Pottery and Glass Art more than 10 years ago. Currently, she is President of the Potter’s Studios in Scarborough and is involved in the Small Business Arts Mentorship Program at Glasstronomy Studios in Markham. Since retiring from education, Millean has devoted her time to her Pottery and Glass Art. She is the sole proprietor of her business, “1 in a Millean”, and participates in a number of Arts and Crafts Shows.
Also, Millean loves to garden and is a member and a volunteer at the Toronto Botanical Garden. To keep her schedule busy she enjoys cooking and baking.
