About this Event
Trainer: David Burgess, Apollo Fundraising
David Burgess is a Fundraising consultant, specialising in working with museums, heritage sites and cultural venues.
What will be covered?
Museum Development South East is pleased to be working with David Burgess of Apollo Fundraising to deliver 3 online training sessions covering important areas that will improve your Museum’s Fundraising Skills.
Every day, potential donors walk through your doors, visit your website and engage with your social media channels. But are enough of them actually going on to make a donation?
Whether you are looking to introduce a new individual giving programme or you’re trying to take your existing programme to the next level, this session will help you to increase the amount of money you raise from individual donors.
We’ll look at how to identify who your target audiences are, how to develop fundraising asks that match their motivations, how you can make it easy for people to give and what you should do after someone donates to increase the chances they’ll give again.

Learning Objectives
By the end of the session you’ll be able to answer the following questions:
- Who are our potential supporters and what might motivate them to give to my museum?
- Does my museum need a Friends or Membership scheme?
- What are the core ingredients I should include in my museum’s fundraising message?
- What channels should I be using to promote my museum’s fundraising message?
- How can I make it as easy as possible for people to give to my museum?
- How can I increase the number of people who give again in future?
Who should attend?
All delegates are welcome from any size and type of museum, and can be trustee, staff, volunteer or a consultant who is working in partnership with you on a project or bid.
Anyone who needs to develop or refresh their Fundraising Skills and who wants to understand the thought process and techniques to harness individual giving to your museum.
The session will be aimed at a beginner/intermediate level.
