Full Moon Meditation

What is the Tantric Full Moon Ritual?
This workshop is a guided 1 hour meditation, on a full moon evening, in a 3 hour workshop format. It is a recurring event, based on rituals and tantra, with the aim to go deeper in yourself, build a community – and find support.
(For an easier read of the following text, i recommend the event on my website: https://tantrathomas.dk/tantric-full-moon-ritual-2-4/)
What this practically means is:
- The workshop is 3 hours – with a 1 hour meditation
In the middle of the room we will have a decorated altar – where you can place your own crystals, statues, cards, etc. and fruit you bring
- Before the meditation, for an hour, we land in the space, set intentions, go through “how to meditate” and support what ever needs support
- After the meditation, for an hour, we celebrate by supporting each other, eating from the altar, cuddle, or give space to what needs space
- Ritual: a repeated, conscious, structured sequence that alters the internal or external state of an individual, group, or environment
- Tantric meditation: We set an intention, preferably one containing a trigger, and, as best we can, we embrace, sit with, and breathe through everything that comes up. All emotions, sensations, feelings, energies, and thoughts. This invites a space to move from doing into being
The intentions of this workshop are:
-Co-created: add your magic to the mix and observe yourself and the event grow over time
- Community building: hopefully, this event will create a community of tantric seekers that can support each other
- Cyclical in nature: (almost) every full moon date have been booked for 2026 – so rejoin, look back and integrate
- Full moon potency: the full moon is known for potent, cleansing energies which we will draw on to open the body
- Safety: We support each other while taking care of own boundaries – and any aggressive or violent behaviour will be addressed
- Inclusive and open: We do not judge or discriminate anyone for their experience of life, including emotions, religious viewpoints, sexual orientation, etc.
What Tantric Full Moon Ritual is not:
- S3xual or sensual: we are working with classical tantra (also referred to as “white tantra” by some)
- Facilitated partner or a partner-seeking space: this is primarily a meditation space which opens up for interactions after completion
- Spiritual bypass: we sit with whatever comes up in the meditation. All of it. However difficult
- Profit-oriented: prices are adjusted and kept low, to pay for the space and necessities. All surplus is feeded back into the event and community
So, come join us as we will co-create a sacred container, with a communal altar that holds our collective intention as we journey inward to release what no longer serves and invite in clarity and purpose for the next chapter.
What to expect:
The setting is this: Arrive in your own pace and settle in, placing any meaningful items and fruit on our altar. Then we will share a bit about ourselves, before setting a personal intention and getting into “how to meditate”. We will then gently slide into a one-hour Tantric meditation where you’ll breathe through whatever arises, followed by an hour of integration where you can share, enjoy fruits of the altar, connect respectfully with others, or simply rest in your own space—all within a safe, structured, and intentionally held ritual designed for personal release and communal support under the energy of the full moon.
Also, expect to meet a group of like-minded individuals who, together with you, will form and shape the coming events in accordance to what works.
Who is this for?
This ritual is for anyone seeking a meaningful, structured way to go deep into themselves, release, and integrate in a cyclical manner. It is perfect for those curious about classical tantra, meditation, community and community rituals in a safe, guided setting. No prior experience is necessary, but experience with meditation and self-development will help you deepen your experience.
What is the communal altar?
In the center of our space, we will co-create a powerful altar. Upon arrival, it has already been built, with statues of Shiva, Ganesh, aso., yet it needs your energy and unique touch. You are therefore invited to bring objects to contribute—a crystal, tarot cards, teddy bear, a necklace, a deck, a photo, your own statue, or anything that carries your unique energy, or can support you through the meditation. Your object will be charged with the communal energied and the full moon potency.
The fruit has two significances: firstly, it is to adorn the altar, as a symbol of abundance, and secondly, for eating after the meditation, to internalise and ground the experience.
The intentions can be written on notes and placed on the altar as well, on display, and then kept and carried through to the next cycle.
Through this, our communal altar becomes the physical heart of our shared intention for the evening, previous cycle, and the potential of the coming.
Why the full moon?
Primarily, the idea of doing a “full moon” ritual was to create a cyclical, communal, and repeatable event on an evening that isn’t following the calendar. Using the full moon, it rather follows our natural rythms, as something we come back to – and remember. Secondly, as spiritual point in time, the full moon represents a peak, high-intensity phase in the lunar cycle, often associated with heightened emotions, increased creativity, and revelations. Occurring when the sun and moon align opposite one another, this time is ideal for releasing, cleansing, and manifesting intentions.
Emotional Amplification: The intense, outward energy of the full moon can heighten feelings, making people more sensitive, impulsive, or passionate.
Release and Cleansing: It is a powerful time to let go of habits, emotions, or relationships that no longer serve you.
Illumination and Clarity: The peak light of the moon brings truths and hidden issues to the surface, offering clarity on what needs to be changed.
Peak Creativity: The heightened, yang-like, energetic state is excellent for bringing projects to fruition, self-expression, and hosting events.
What is tantra in this context?
The basic understanding and approach to tantra in this context is built upon the lineage of Śaiva Tantra, as presented by the work of Christopher Wallis.
The word “tantra” means “book”, “scripture” or “doctrine”, as opposed to “yantra” (deity/symbol) or “mantra” (vibration/sound), and refers to a Non-Dual (the belief of “oneness”) path to enlightenment through Yoga (bridging the inner and outer world) which in turn refers to a process of understanding who you truly are, through practice, teachings and scripture. Essentially, you could say that tantra is a tradition or technology, invented thousands of years ago to help seekers understand the essence of reality, and through this, become who they truly are.
The tantric belief varies from other belief systems, even other non-dual ones, in the way that, because we are all one being – we should embrace and be intimate with literally everything in existance, because we literally are everything in existance. Through these tantric ritualistic meditations (which is a form of Yoga) we aim to cultivate Moksha (infinite joy/liberation) rather than Bhoga (worldly pleasures) – the latter most often associated with tantra in the west.
To get the most out of these meditations, self-study on the subject is recommended (though not required in any way). The ressources on Śaiva Tantra include (in order): Tantra Illuminated (book), The Recognition Sutras (book), tantrailluminated.org (online ressources/teachings), and Near Enemies of the Truth (book).
Can I join as a beginner?
Absolutely. This ritual is designed to be accessible. The guidance will be clear, and you are always invited to participate in a way that feels right for your body and energy levels. The most important thing you can bring is an open mind and a willingness to be present with yourself.
The meditation will be in a relaxed seated position, preferably without back support if possible. If any physicality prevents you from this, please let me know beforehand so I can find a way to support you.
Can I join, even if I haven’t been there from the first workshop?
Yes – please join on your own terms. There is also no requirement of joining each cycle, so please find your own pace in this.
What to wear and bring?
- Comfortable clothing you can meditate and relax in. This is an inward journey, so focus on comfortability
- A water bottle with a closed lid and pen and a journal for writing down insights
- An object for the altar – cards, crystals, pendants, a book, a photo, a statue, or the like, that you want charged
- Fruits for the altar – bananas, grapes, dates, aso., to be eaten after the meditation
- An open heart and mind
