About this Event
This immersive walking concert invites audiences to move through the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center alongside a series of musical duos, each guiding listeners from one space to the next. As one musician hands you off to another, the performance unfolds gradually, like a relay of sound and story. Each duo performs music selected in response to the surrounding exhibitions, engaging themes of displacement, coded communication, refuge, resistance, and remembrance.
Rooted in the specific histories of Cincinnati and its role as a border city, the program draws meaning from the museum’s position on the banks of the Ohio River, which served as a historic gateway to freedom. In this flowing exchange, the museum becomes both stage and storyteller, with music offering new ways to encounter the histories it holds.
