About this Event
This is a walking tour designed for those who have been to the Sir John Soane House and Museum on Lincoln's Inn Fields, loved it and wanted to know more.
Whilst there is not much left of Soane’s architectural masterpieces, the City is a great place to explore the influences of this Georgian and Regency Architect.
Join me for a journey through the heart of the City of London where we will see some of the work undertaken by Soane’s mentor, George Dance the Younger; Soane's peers, the Adams Brothers; and we will meet one of Soane’s literary heroes.
Ending at The Bank of England, we consider if Nikolaus Pevsner’s views about the reconstruction of the Bank of England as "the greatest architectural crime" is correct.
