About this Event
For London Craft Week, Friday Sari Project (FSP) presents a curated store showcasing contemporary fashion, jewellery and accessories from India and Sri Lanka, highlighting designers whose practices are rooted in heritage craft and modern design thinking.
Founded in London in 2018, Friday Sari Project is the first platform of its kind dedicated to showcasing contemporary and emerging designers from India and Sri Lanka and redefining perceptions of contemporary design and culture from the Indian subcontinent. Along with a curated programme of events, FSP acts as curator, exhibitor and advocate, bringing together an ever-evolving selection of designers and makers who elevate traditional skills, materials and processes.
This special London Craft Week presentation foregrounds heritage techniques including natural dyeing, hand embroidery, applique, batik, beeralu lace, Himalayan wool and hand weaving-craft practices deeply embedded in cultural knowledge, place and community. Across garments, jewellery and accessories, these techniques are reimagined through contemporary forms, reflecting a commitment to slow, sustainable fashion and thoughtful production.
Curated Walkthrough - Tuesday 12th 6-8pm
Founder Mehala Ford takes you on a guided exploration of the showcase, offering deeper insight into the stories behind the materials, techniques and makers, and the relationship between land, people and process.
