What is Balfolk dancing, you ask? It is a very valid question. Bal folk comes from France (literally means “folk ball”) and is basically a French version of an Aussie Bush dance. A wide variety of European dances (especially French) are enjoyed at these events: there are line dances, circle dances, change-partner dances, couples dances and occasionally some solo dances. The main goal of balfolk is to get people together, having a heap of fun, and smiling - people say it’s their dopamine hit for the week! Balfolk has danced its way from France to many other countries, and we are very excited that it has now arrived in Perth (and even more recently, Melbourne) and is thriving!
All of our events are 100% volunteer-run. All proceeds from this event are used to make future events possible. If you would like to get involved to help our events run smoothly, please get in touch with us at [email protected]. We would love to hear from you!
