Spend a morning slowing down and re-connecting with nature in the ancient woodlands of Epping Forest.
About this Event

This free, small group forest bathing session is all about slowing down and opening your senses to the natural world. We'll walk gently through the forest, pausing along the way for simple invitations that help you notice what’s around you, perhaps in a new way.

The scientifically-backed practice of forest bathing aims to shift you from the 'doing' mode of modern urban life into a state of 'being,' allowing you to unplug from digital distractions and to-do lists and re-establish a connection with the wider web of life.

There’ll be time to sit, time to wander solo, and space to share your experience with the group if you feel like it. No need to have done anything like this before.

I’m offering this session free of charge as I'm a guide-in-training, still very much learning and honing my craft - instead of payment, I'd really appeciate your feedback.

What are the benefits of forest bathing?

As natural beings, we evolved in natural environments, but modern life often pulls our systems out of sync. Forest bathing helps restore that balance - scientifically shown to reduce stress, support immunity, regulate our nervous systems and improve our sleep, focus and mood. No mean feat!

THE PRACTICAL PART...

Date: Sunday 12th October 2025

Time: 10:30 AM

Location: Epping Forest

Interested, but the date doesn't suit?

If you like the sound of forest bathing but can’t make this session, I’d love to hear from you. I'll hopefully be lining up some other dates and locations in and around London and can keep you in the loop on these.

Where will we meet?

We'll meet at the Chingford end of the forest. I'll contact participants directly with more specific details on our meeting point

What should you wear?

In short, whatever you need to stay warm/cool, dry - and protected from insect bites!

More specifically…

  • Layers: to keep warm/cool, depending on the weather
  • Long sleeves/trousers: to protect against insect bites
  • Waterproofs: if any rain is forecast, or even if it's been raining recently.
  • Sturdy footwear with a decent grip, preferably waterproof: we’ll be getting off the beaten track and trails might be muddy.

And what should you bring?

You don't need much, just...

  • Something to sit on, such as a picnic blanket or mat - preferably water resistant (even a plastic bag will do at a push)
  • Water to stay hydrated
  • Any snacks or Medic*tion you think you might need (e.g. hay fever tablets)

What if rain is forecast?

We'll go ahead in most weather conditions , as long as it's safe to do so (I'll cancel in the event of high winds, torrential rain or stormy weather). A rainy forest bathing experience can actually be pretty magical!

What level of fitness or mobility is advised?

We'll cover about 2-3km at a slow, gentle pace. However, paths may be uneven and muddy, with some gentle inclines. You might need to step over tree roots, navigate around brambles, or cross a small brook.

There’ll also be opportunities to sit or lie down on the forest floor as part of the experience. You're very welcome to bring a lightweight camping stool or chair if that would be more comfortable for you.

If you have any specific mobility concerns or accessibility needs, please reach out.

What about parking or public transport options?

Our meeting spot is just a 5-10 mins walk from Chingford station, which is on the Weaver/Overground line. Or if you're driving, there's a paid public car park on Bury Road, next to our meeting point.

Are dogs or children welcome to tag along?Unfortunately not - human adults only!
