Feeling peckish for sketch comedy? Want to know what it’s like to create unforgettable characters, wild scenarios, and write (then rewrite) until you home in on the joke?
This workshop gives you an intro and practical overview for writing and performing sharp, memorable sketches.
We’ll discuss the fundamentals of a variety of effective sketch formats, including Character, Premise, Fish-Out-of-Water, Blackouts, Impossible Tasks, Mapping, and more.
Together we’ll use improv to spark ideas, write solo and with partners, and read sketches aloud, getting constructive feedback from the group - like a real comedy writers’ room.
Sketch comedy is an absolute blast, so if you’ve always wanted to learn about it, this workshop is the perfect starting point.
