About this Event
Foreboding: Based on motifs from A Diary, After Many Years by Koneski is the first feature-length documentary about Blaže Koneski, the central cultural and intellectual figure of 20th-century Macedonia.
Directed by acclaimed documentarian Nikola T. Kalajdziski, the film draws inspiration from Koneski’s Diary After Many Years and offers a cinematic journey into his life and legacy.
Through the voices of leading academics, linguists, literary scholars, and foreign Macedonianists, Janza reveals both the monumental significance of Koneski’s work in codifying the Macedonian literary language and the lesser-known, intimate dimensions of his personality.
Produced by Kontrast Film with the support of the Film Agency of North Macedonia, the film sheds new light on a figure whose contributions remain foundational to the country’s cultural and national identity.
