Get in the holiday spirit at the U.S. National Arboretum! Stop by FONA’s Winter Festival & Christmas Tree Sale on Saturday, December 6th from 10 AM to 3 PM.
Shop from 30+ local artisans in the gift vendor village, take a holiday train ride around the Capitol Columns, and enjoy free family-friendly activities! There will also be plenty of hot chocolate and caroling to ring in the holiday season.
The Winter Festival is hosted by Friends of the National Arboretum in partnership with DC Squared and DC Child Care Connections. This event kicks off DC Squared’s series in Northeast D.C. during the month of December.

All Winter Festival activities will take place near the National Arboretum’s Visitor Center. However, the Christmas Tree Sale will take place in the Arboretum’s Grove parking lot, which is ~2 minute drive or 10 minute walk from the Visitor Center. Enter the Arboretum by either the R Street entrance (2400 R Street NE) or New York Avenue entrance (3501 New York Ave NE). Free parking is available at the Arboretum. See map below for details.
Christmas Tree Sale
Buy Christmas trees and holiday greenery — 10% of all purchases are donated directly to FONA! This sale is held in the Grove parking lot, which is ~2 minute drive or 10 minute walk from the Visitor Center. If you can’t make it on December 6th, the Christmas Tree Sale will run November 28th through December 7th (see FONA’s website for full details about the tree sale).
Trees are available for pre-order and home delivery. Pre-ordering is not required but guarantees you a great tree at the best price. When pre-ordering, please select "Friends of the National Arboretum" as the fundraising partner at checkout to ensure your purchase supports FONA.

Free Family Activities
DC Child Care Connections will offer free child-centered, family-focused activities for children ages 2 to 12. They will include face painting, arts, crafts, and games. DC Child Care Connections is the District’s Child Care Resource and Referral program funded through the Office of the State Superintendent of Education’s Division of Early Learning. Adult supervision is required during all family activities.
MORE ON ITS A WONDERFUL WARD!Throughout December, DC² will keep the spirit alive with community clothing swaps, donations and The Giving Tree, where neighbors can adopt a local family or individual and bring their gifts to the Procrastinator’s Holiday Market (PHM) at Kraken (December 20) for a joyful exchange celebration.
