Dr. Atao Liu, a performer and educator based in New York, is celebrated for her captivating orchestral performances. Regularly featured as a guest musician with orchestras including American Symphony Orchestra and American Ballet Theater, she enthralls audiences both nationally and internationally. Her 2017 tour with the NCPA Orchestra of China across the United States, alongside performances in China and collaborations with the Beijing Symphony, marked significant milestones in her international journey. An accomplished educator, Dr. Liu has guided students to successful admission to The Juilliard School Pre-college. Her handcrafted reeds have earned acclaim from both professional and aspiring bassoonists. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Manhattan School of Music, a master’s degree from The Juilliard School, and a doctoral degree from Stony Brook University.

Originally from Washington State, Denise Fillion is a pianist currently based in New York City. She has a special affinity for new music and has worked with several significant living composers, including Tristan Murail, Frederic Rzewski, David Lang, Tristan Perich, and George Crumb. She has appeared in performance on the "Darmstadt Series" at Issue Project Room, and with Ear Heart Music at Roulette, the Washington Composers Forum concert series, Bellingham Electronic Arts Festival,

Charlotte New Music Festival, the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, at Le Poisson Rouge, and universities across the country.

Denise received her Bachelor of Music degree from Western Washington University where she was a Presser Scholar studying with Jeffrey Gilliam. After working as a collaborative pianist at Western, Denise was accepted on full scholarship as a master’s student at Stony Brook University where she subsequently completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts with Christina Dahl.

Since moving to New York in 2014, Justin Lee has performed with several orchestras, and has served as a featured soloist and principal flutist for Queer Urban Orchestra, Manhattan Wind Ensemble, and Brooklyn Wind Symphony.

In the San Francisco Bay Area from 2008-2014, Justin was a founding member of Nonsemble 6, a touring contemporary chamber group. As an advocate for musical education and outreach, Justin was selected for San Francisco Symphony’s Adventures in Music program, presenting  interactive classical music concerts for nearly ten thousand students in public schools.

Other performance highlights include: New Conductors Orchestra, Napa Music Festival Opera, Opera Academy of California, Festival of French Classical Music of Silicon Valley, Astoria Music Festival (Oregon), Millennium Stage Project at the Kennedy Center in D.C., and Other Minds Festival.

As a master’s student at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Justin won the concerto competition and was awarded Outstanding Achievement in Flute. Additional accomplishments include winning the Western Washington University concerto competition and receiving top prizes in the Ladies Musical Club of Seattle Soloist Competition and Bellingham Music Club Competition. Justin’s primary teachers are Timothy Day, Zart Dombourian-Eby, and Lisa McCarthy.
