We are excited to have DJ Josimix and Mario Vargas in the booth to kick off the festivities for the weekend and celebrate the historic opening.
About DJ Josimix
From the heart of Angola, DJ Josimar (aka Josimix) brings tradition and modernity together on the decks. What began as a personal passion and hobby has become his way of celebrating culture, heritage, and connection through music.
Drawing inspiration from Angola’s rich traditional rhythms, Josimar seamlessly blends them with the smooth, soulful grooves of ghetto zouk from Cape Verde, echoing the shared heartbeat of the PALOP nations. His sets carry both nostalgia and fresh energy—bridging generations, uniting communities, and keeping Lusophone sounds alive on the dance floor.
About DJ Mario Vargas
Mario has made significant strides in the dance community since moving to Seattle in 2012. Initially immersing himself in salsa and bachata, he began exploring the world of Kizomba later that same year. He started teaching Kizomba in 2015 at Salsa N’ Seattle, where his talent and dedication to his weekly classes and socials quickly gained recognition. Since then, he has been invited to teach and DJ at events across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, ranging from intimate workshops to large festivals. His expertise has also earned him a place in two national Kizomba performance teams. He has collaborated with numerous national and international Kizomba instructors, DJs, and organizers. Additionally, he has hosted larger semi-monthly events and was part of a team that successfully organized recurring New Year's dance festivals. Now based in Los Angeles, Mario continues to be a sought-after DJ and instructor, bringing his grounding energy and deep understanding of Kizomba to events across the US.
