Join playwright Ruby Holder on an immersive writing experience in our secret Victorian chapel. In this session you'll be led through a series of writing exercises with the addition of sound, film, props and other creative tools with the aim to kickstart creativity and generate early-stage material through the practice of 'free writing'. This workshop will have a particular focus on the London Docklands, the Thames Estuary and Essex & East End folklore.
Ruby Holder is a playwright from South-East London. She is a graduate of the Royal Court’s writers' group during which she wrote ‘Meat Eaters’ and continued to develop the play there until it underwent workshop in Aug 2023. Ruby graduated from the BRIT School in 2016 after studying Theatre and touring in Leo Butler’s ‘Decades’ for The Bridge Theatre Company (Ovalhouse/Brighton Fringe/Plymouth Fringe) Her recent writing credits include ‘Set in Stains’ (Nuu Theatre/ Drayton Arms/Park Theatre) and ‘Horoscopes- Living Newspaper Edition 2’ (The Royal Court).She is now developing her first Television treatment ‘Blood on the Tracks’ and writing her new play ‘Isle of Grain’.
