About this Event

The inaugural Fleet Week Houston will bring multiple U.S. Navy vessels and more than 1,000 Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen to Houston for a series of events and experiences. This special harbor tour and on-the-water parade viewing highlights the visiting fleet as they pass by Galveston's historic bay, making their way to Houston.

Fleet Week Houston is an official part of the U.S. Navy’s year-long 250th birthday celebration. The U.S. Marine Corps will also celebrate its 250th year during Fleet Week Houston on November 10.

Small coolers with food and drink are allowed. Please note that the parking lots along Harborside Drive will be closed for the event. Please plan for parking on The Strand or neighboring streets.

ABOUT SEAGULL II

See Galveston Harbor up close aboard Seagull II on the Historic Harbor Tour and Dolphin Watch, Galveston Historic Seaport’s 50-foot twin-engine motor vessel. Fast, stable, and sheltered, she was built specifically for harbor sightseeing excursions and education and is a perfect platform for waterborne experiential learning. The boat is U.S. Coast Guard certified, and her operators are fully licensed and knowledgeable about the history and lore of her home waters. Seagull II has a comfortable main deck, sheltered from the sun and rain. An open upper deck affords a full panorama of water and sky.

ABOUT GALVESTON HISTORICAL FOUNDATION

Galveston Historical Foundation (GHF) was formed as the Galveston Historical Society in 1871 and merged with a new organization formed in 1954 as a non-profit entity devoted to historic preservation and history in Galveston County. Over the last seventy years, GHF has expanded its mission to encompass community redevelopment, historic preservation advocacy, maritime preservation, museum development, and heritage tourism. GHF embraces a broader vision of history and architecture that encompasses advancements in environmental and natural sciences and their intersection with historic buildings and coastal life, and continues to lead on local, state, and national levels with research-driven programs that build awareness of preservation’s role in cultural identity and stewardship across generations.
