When the light hits the desert just right, Big Bend tells a story few can capture in a camera.Come spend an evening with us at Lectures at The Bryan, featuring Tim Cooper.
Through the eyes of photographer, naturalist, and explorer Peter Koch, Big Bend came alive in a time when the park was still new and the tools of photography were just beginning to evolve. Now, his grandson — and former Big Bend artist-in-residence — Tim Cooper carries that story forward.
Cooper will share the journey of a man who found his own El Dorado in West Texas, bringing with him rare, newly restored Kodachrome slides, personal stories from the field, and a glimpse at the cameras that captured it all.
It’s a look at Big Bend in its earliest days — and the legacy it inspired, still unfolding today.
Pull up a chair. We’ll take you there.
