This meetup is a collaboration with several groups from the Philadelphia area that are dedicated to sharing the arts, culture, and intellectual discussion with our city community.
The event centers on the themes of life and death, drawing inspiration from the cultural traditions of the Day of the Dead. The Ethical Society will host the event in its main auditorium, with several members of the Philadelphia Philosophy Meetup contributing to the speaking series held throughout the day (From 10:30 am- 2:30 pm). Some members of our group who will be presenting include:
1\. Connor McBride \- See No Evil: Life and Death Within Life
2\. Jesse Opie \- On Pascal and the Mythology of Despair
3\. Sid Gilford \- Life Before Death - Legacy and Managing Daily Stress
4\. Paige Niezelski \- The Organic as Connectedness
There will also be other speakers from Philadelphia Stoa, several different performances, and local artists presenting their work.
Join us for a day devoted to ideas, art, and culture as we reflect on the complex dimensions of life and death and the multiple dialogues of meaning they inspire. Feel free to bring your friends, family, or significant other. You can stay for the entirety of the event or stay as long as it interests you.
We hope to see you there!
