This ticket covers attendance at the keynote presentation and a choice of breakout session for the morning block.
Keynote Presentation: This panel will explore women in glaciology, why it matters, and how the next generation of girls and women are being lifted up to enter these fields and contribute to the incredibly important research that will shape our changing future. Panelists Alison Criscitiello, Jocelyn Hirose and Corinne Schuster-Wallace will explore the role that storytelling, art and communication plays in the programs they have founded and champion.
Breakout Session A: Glaciers are vast, operate at a timescale hard to comprehend, and have so many stories to tell. How do we as humans capture the stories happening around us in these landscapes? Panelists Leanne Allison, Lynn Martel, Jean-François Delhom and Roger Vernon will discuss the different modalities they use to bring the stories of glaciers to the public, highlighting what’s captured the attention of their audiences. This session will include audience Q&A and discussion.
Breakout Session B: Swiss glaciologist Dr. Andreas Linsbauer (University of Zurich) explores how immersive storytelling, extended reality (XR), and experience-driven design can transform glacier data into emotional, memorable experiences. Drawing on award-winning multimedia projects like Expedition 2 Degrees, Ice Age Cam, VR Glacier Experience, and the upcoming Glacier Lifelines, he shares insights from collaborations with scientists, designers, educators, and cultural institutions that bridge science, art, and education. From virtual glacier hikes to AI-powered landscape reconstructions, these interactive formats invite users to engage with climate change not just as observers, but as participants.
